UNITE Launches Midwifery Training Program

UNITE recently raised more than $4,000 to purchase and deliver much needed obstetric supplies, safe birth kits and midwifery training curriculums to Dr. Goodluck Kessy, the medical director of UNITE’s partner WEECE, the Women’s Education & Economic Centre of Moshi. Dr. Kessy has delivered the training materials and supplies — which include complete birth kits, obstetrical kits, solar headlamps to shed light on rural in-home deliveries, medicines, and more — to local clinics in need. He is using the curriculums to train nurses and midwifes, enhancing their skills and understanding, thereby promoting more comprehensive, safe and accessible care for expectant and new mothers in the Moshi area.
